I imagine that the first week after the arrival of any baby is a stressful time of little sleep and adjustment for everyone involved. Annie's was no different. :) She was asleep for the vast majority of the days, and when she wasn't sleeping she was typically eating. My mom came to stay with us and help around the house for the first few days, which was a huge help! We were able to get some sleep in the mornings after being up all night! Sadie really enjoyed having her around, too, because she got to take 2 walks everyday and have lots of attention. And we all enjoyed the food, and the pots and pans have never been so clean.

We had a fairly constant stream of visitors, including a few visits from Greg and Lisa.

Annie got her first spongebath at home in the middle of the week. This was not her favorite activity, but the drying off part wasn't too bad.

We had two mini adventures to the pediatrician's office, and confirmed that she was nearly back to birthweight (5lbs, 14 oz on day 7 of life and up an ounce from day 6!) and was otherwise a healthy perfect newborn.

At the end of the week, my dad and Doug came up, as did Sally, Nathan and cousin Charlie. Poor Charlie was having a rough time with some teething, but Annie enjoyed meeting him for the first time.

As far as Sadie goes, she has done really well getting used to having a new, tiny person around who makes lots of funny noises. She had gone to stay with Greg while we were in the hospital, and he brought her back over on our second day in the house. She did some sniffing and was a little curious, but very well behaved. She did notice a change, though, and since then has been even more affectionate and likes any attention--even laying with her head on John's lap.
