Happy 2009!

Well, it's a new year. The end of 2008 was pretty busy for us with lots of traveling, family time, and eating... especially cake! We were in Atlanta for 4 days under the pretext of John's clinical skills exam, and I got to hang out with Elizabeth while he had his test. Then we were both officially on vacation for over 2 weeks (John with another 3 weeks off, but I had to go back to work). We hung out with E for another couple days and checked out the GA aquarium, a local brewery, and a chocolate bar. Yum. Also found a local coffee roaster. Doug and Sarah were in town that weekend, too, so we all went to the Tut exhibit and learned a lot about the pharaohs.

When that weekend ended, we drove back to FL, with a quick stop in Gainesville and then on to Orlando. Went to Disney for the day and got to meet some fabulous characters, especially Mary Poppins. THEN we watched a taping of Wheel of Fortune at SeaWorld, where we got pulled to sit way up front. Awesome! Watch for us sometime in early March or April. :)

Then the main event. We headed home and got ready for Sally's big day. This included numerous parties (all of which had at least one type of cake) and naturally, the wedding day itself! SO much fun. Sally and Nathan looked beautiful, but above all very happy. They headed off to Antigua, and we went to another party.

Christmas week we had dinner at a place in Elfers (love that name) where between 5 of us we had trouble spending $35, went to see Nothing like the Holidays, went for a bike ride, had Christmas Eve dinner with the Massini's and then Christmas day with the Calabrese's. Christmas night, my mom broke out the appletini supplies, and the boys broke out MarioKart. Fun stuff. The following day we got together with Bethany and Mark, followed by dinner with the Rupps and Mike. And a CRAZY evening of Pictionary. The last night of our visit we had dinner at the Lurch house, delicious.

Sunday morning we had a nice breakfast with the newly returned newlyweds and John's parents, followed by a belated gift exchange and the opening of the wedding presents. Then headed back to Gainesville where it finally set in that I had to go back to work the next day.

This week I've been reading mammograms, but thankfully had today off to recover from such a late night of watching the ball drop. We had lots of visitors today, including Elizabeth, Tony, Anitha, and Binh. Sadie's quite worn out now.
