A busy couple of weeks
...as if they're not all busy :)
John and I celebrated 3 years of wedded bliss on June 23rd. Our friend Bebe volunteered to watch Annie, and we went out for a nice dinner. After half a mojito, we were each falling asleep at the table. I guess we're getting old.
The next two days, Annie and I had a little adventure called "Baby Gator is Closed" or "Annie Grace Goes to Work." She really did quite well both days, and thankfully I was in the peds reading room so it wasn't a big deal. She slept some in her wrap, and a little bit in the stroller, and it was nice to have her around.
She also discovered her feet right around Father's Day. Now everytime she lays down on the changing table, her feet (usually the right one) go directly into her mouth. Occasionally she even does this when she's fully clothed.
About a week after her 4 month birthday, we decided to go ahead and try a little bit of rice cereal. She's tiny, but she's been able to hold her head up remarkably well for quite a while. And according to our awesome pediatrician, that's really the limiting factor. We're going slowly, no more than once a day, and don't really expect to be adding fruits or vegetables for a while because so far she's not a big fan of the spoon.
If you just give her the spoon on its own, she thinks it's a toy, and it goes straight in her mouth. Anything on it usually just dribbles back out and down her chin. She'll take a couple sips of milk with or without a tiny bit of cereal before she starts to get really mad. Eventually, we give her the rest of her milk in bottle form. She also now likes to hang on to the bottle, although she's not real good at keeping it high enough to get anything out of it all the time.
She loves to laugh and coo at everything. I still need to post the video of her laughing. And of her trying cereal for the first time.
This past week was Greg's birthday, so he came over for a belated dinner and spent a little time playing with the star stacker. The stars fit perfectly around Annie's feet.
Fridays during the summer are Water Days at daycare. I got to join Annie for a little while as paparazzi. She loved it. And when the spray wasn't directed at her, she had this look on her face like, get back here, water! She wanted to drink it. :)
John finished his intern year on Wednesday and then had two days off. He started in the ICU on Saturday, and was on call the first night. He survived! We're still celebrating the passage of July 1st without incident as well.
For the 4th, Annie was very patriotic in her cute little romper from Grandma Gigi. We could hear the UF fireworks on Saturday night but couldn't see them from our house. It was too rainy and late to go to campus. Sadie spent most of the weekend hiding in the bathroom.
So I guess that brings us up to speed. Videos coming later.
